Capitol Classic

Update! Map links are now available below.

For 38 years the Capitol Classic has showcased the best terrain and history northeastern Kansas has to offer, with great food, mechanical support, and of course great riders. The Capitol Classic is held each year on the first Sunday in May and is a great way to begin your riding season. It’s also a great training ride for bigger rides later in the season – like the Cottonwood 200!

A fully staffed SAG will be located midway of the ride (~mile 21) in the Burlingame Sumner City Park.

At the end of the ride a picnic lunch (hog dogs, chips, snacks, condiments, etc., and drinks) will be offered to all participants.  Please bring your own camp chairs for this activity.  Additionally, Carbondale, Scranton and Burlingame each have a Casey’s store right on the main bike route.  In Auburn there is a MAX’s store on the main bike route.

For those who are wanting additional mileage, we offer a marked optional 20 mile offshoot route in Auburn, Kansas that goes through the town of Dover before rejoining the main route back to south Topeka.  NOTE: this optional route will not have any services open to the public on the day of the ride (Sunday), so please be prepared in advance.

While in south Topeka, after the ride, you can visit the Combat Air Museum located at 7016 SE Forbes Ave., Forbes Field, Topeka, Kansas 66619-1444, Phone: (785) 862-3303 (Open from Noon to 4:30pm on Sundays).  Price: $7.00 per adult, $5.00 for Active Military and children under 17.
